Due to the Government’s decision to scrap the B+E Car & Trailer test as of the 20th September 2021, Tilston Training are now offering shorter courses to ensure you are safe and confident in the art of towing caravans.
Towing trailers/caravans up to a max weight of 3,500 kgs can be very dangerous if the driver is not correctly trained. Although the Government have relaxed the rules on towing trailers and caravans they are encouraging and advising people to take up training by qualified instructors. JW Driver Training have been teaching Car and trailer for over 6 years even after the law changed.
We will still train you to the very high standards as if you needed to pass a test. However, you are not required to take any test at the end of the course.
You will be issued with an attendance certificate at the end of the course signed off by one of our DVSA Approved Instructors.
So whether you need to tow a trailer or caravan for the first time, or if you just require a little additional training to give you a little more confidence when you’re towing, then we have a training course that will suit you.
JW Driver Training instructors are friendly, patient and very knowledgeable. All the training is overseen by fully qualified, CRB checked and registered DVSA Approved Driving Instructors. In addition, they have years of experience in towing trailers and caravans.
We host the DVSA vocational test centre at our premises so you will be trained as if you were on test in a perfect off-road facility and not in a public car park somewhere.

ABOUT THE CARAVAN TOWING TRAINING COURSES
Full caravan experience course. (Full day). Highly recommended
This course will cover every aspect of towing caravans and you would be trained exactly as we would have been trained you as if there was a test at the end of that day.
Course content:
Safety briefing
Hitching up the caravan to your vehicle
Caravan safety checks
Safe loading and securing of the caravan.
Forward driving through tight spaces
Reversing in a straight line
Reversing around corners
Levelling the caravan
Unhitching the caravan from your vehicle
Safety briefing
On road driving to cover dual carriageways, town centres, multi lane roundabouts to country lanes.
Pulling in and moving off from various situations including laybys
Feedback de brief and advice
This course is ideal for the person with or without previous experience with a caravan and who would like to be fully trained to test standard. Remember we had one of if not the highest pass rate in the Country for B+E. Therefore, you can be sure you will receive probably the best possible training which will give you the safest and most confident towing experience in the future.
